More excuses...

Just a very quick missive to explain my lengthy absence from the Blogosphere.

I'm afraid a very intense and busy period professionally, coupled with a sudden and unexpected, increase in grandfatherly responsibilities have combined to deprive me of sufficient spare time to write any posts worthy of the name.

I hope to resume my normal level of productivity from about the start of August or so...

This is the time of year when the Grandad business really takes off. This idea is a bit age-dependant (of the bairns that is, not you) but it's a productive and interesting way to while away the days when it's pouring with rain, and you are all stuck indoors.

What have you got that's broken? Alarm clock? Camera?. What about a brolly? Deck chair? Or maybe an old bicycle. Anything that's knackered and isn't mains-powered.

You will need whatever you've got in the garage. Screwdriver, hammer, stuff like that. Magnifying glass maybe.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to show the bairns how it was put together, and how it used to work. And the best way to do that, is take it to bits, experiment, and keep reminding them that somebody did all this in reverse when it was being made.
Most bairns these days aren't even taught how a shirt is made. So get your disgraceful old trousers out of the cubby hole, cut them up along all the sewn edges, and spread them out flat on the floor.

Most of all, have fun.
